What’s the difference ? Sculpt focuses on sequences and laying. It’s often cardio based. You can see here how musiple muscle groups are working. Plank, oblique, quad, and glute. And sometimes had an added option to be beat based. Whereas modern Pilates focuses time under tension with variations to intensify the intended muscle group. In this case, quad and glute. bod. | modern Pilates education
Out of my control :-))
New YouTube video behind the scene of modern reformer training uploaded now 🤎 link in bio bod. | modern Pilates education
E bike got stolen 😭 day in the life gone wrong
Sculpt & modern mat… there is a difference. Let’s talk about it Watch full video. Sculpt: multiple muscle groups are working in a sequence, often cardio based, typically beat based. Modern mat: focuses on one muscle group at a time, time under tension, slow controlled precise movement. In this case, once the split squat is finished in a glute block, the next block would be core and upper body with the pull back high planks. bod. | modern pilates education
FORM CHECK: split squat Be intentional and command your room. Know your why. Which version are you teaching? With a hinge or more upright? And know what the mistakes are made in what position. In a hinge, the hip alignment tends to get misaligned. But in a more upright position, backs tend to arch more or knee alignment goes too far over the toes. Know that with a hinge, it’s more glute focused and with an upright position it’s more quad dominant. Both are so great to teach, but make sure your clients know which one is the focus that day and why. bod. | modern Pilates education
I know Halloween is scary but your form doesn’t have to be 👻

Sculpt vs. modern Pilates standing curtsy series Sculpt often is beat based with more layers, working multiple muscle groups in a combo. Whereas Modern Pilates, you choose one focus muscle in this case outer glute and build on it with slow controlled movement. Split squat then add a variation after about a minute. To match the sculpt move I added a twist in a static hold. Making the glute and quad work extra for rotation in the torso. bod. | modern Pilates education

FORM CHECK: Side Teaser We constantly see clients dumbing their weight into their shoulder or side body. And what is a teaser all about? Lengthening, lifting, balance and control. Range of motion look different on everyone but our biggest cue is to lengthen the side body. Rotate back on sit bones and lengthen the legs to the corner of the room while pushing heavy through our forearm to prevent collapsing. Remind clients legs meet hand/ arms not the other way around. This will help remind them it’s okay to have a small range as long as form is executed properly. And breathe. Please breathe. Exhale lengthen and lift inhale come back to starting position. bod. | modern Pilates education
FORM CHECK: serve the platter We have to remember that in Pilates our core is the powerhouse of movement. Sometimes in upper body we forget about it. Especially when adding weights into the mix. Before any movement we want to come back to centering and breath. Hips to ribs, 360 breathing and keep the core engaged. Take the momentum and cut it out. In modern Pilates we work time under tension. The tension load starts and stops and the ribcage. Precise movement is what drives results. Take modifications if needed: drop the weights, drop to your heels, or limit range of motion. bod. | modern Pilates education
2Instructors tap in… comment what changed 🤎
I love filming these 🤎 busy day as a business owner of bod. Follow my IG @ bod.Pilates
FORM CHECK: panther/ plank crunch Sometimes breaking the movement up will help clients slow down and focus on form. High plank first then que bend at the knees. Modifications: crunch, baby bear (hips do lift for this one), ab wheel, Saw Okay for pregnancies but add spring load for more stability. bod. | modern Pilates education
Side kick: Pilates vs. sculpt 🤎 In Pilates, the focus is controlled hip movement while keeping the pelvis and torso steady. In sculpt, pulses, tempo, and added layers can shift the emphasis toward muscular endurance and the burn. Both can challenge you. As an instructor, know the purpose behind the movement—and cue accordingly. Same starting position. Different intention. bod. | modern Pilates education
@bod.pilates my favorite days are training days 🤎 @kova.simi thank you for opening up your beautiful studio. To all the girls — I’m so proud of you. @Paragon Fitwear @Gymshark Women @Elliosa
2A lot of the time clients keep so much tension in the jaw and neck. To help prevent cue elbows to push into the mat and lift up on shoulder blades. And ask, are you teaching articulate/ roll through spine or neutral spine? bod. | modern Pilates education

Form check — shoulder bridge Cueing tips: • push through elbows to help brace your core • reach fingers towards the front • tripod your feet • relax the jaw and neck Which way do you prefer? Neutral spine or articulated spine? bod. | modern Pilates education

Pilates mermaid vs. sculpt 🤎 Similar shape, different intention. Pilates emphasizes controlled side bending, length through the waist, and shoulder stability. This sculpt variation adds a knee drive and rotation, shifting the challenge toward repeated core work. Often paired with beat based movement. Know what you’re teaching—and why. bod. | modern Pilates education
