Would I teach level 3 in a group class? Probably not. But it was fun to challenge myself. — Level 1 is just the right amount of spice: it allows you to focus on hip alignment and pushing into the ball to challenge your instability. Level 2: so tough. Hips are going to want to rock back and forth. Remember range of motion doesn’t need to be too big. Focus on pushing your weight into the ball to keep your hips level. Level 3: try it out if you’re feeling spicy. I was only able to do 2-3 reps then need a break. Sometimes less is more. I’d rather someone take a level down and perform more reps with correct form. Try it out in your next class. bod. | modern pilates education

Your clients show up for a 45-50 minutes class and expect the most out of it. So in modern Pilates our warm up matters. We still want to keep the principles of pilates. Working our breath and getting our spine warmed up. But with a fun challenge such as a small hold to challenge the core in between stretches. 3 minutes is the perfect amount to get the body warmed up and ready to go. It helps keep the attention span of the class and get our clients in the mindset to work. Let me know what your go to warm up is. bod. | modern Pilates education

Come on a walk—let’s talk teaching 🤎 1. Opposition. Cue both directions. Give each cue a purpose. 2. Foreshadowing. Tell clients what’s coming before they need to move. A little preparation creates a smoother transition. 3. Read the room. Your plan is a starting point. Some days you’ll need to slow down, offer another option, or let a layer go. Not everything goes as planned. Give yourself permission to adapt to the people in front of you. Intentional teaching. That’s bod. bod. | modern pilates education
Props with purpose. 🤎 A ball, a band, a set of weights—every addition should have a reason. Inside the bod. mentorship, we explore how props change the movement, when to use them, and how to cue with intention. Know what you’re adding. Understand why. Comment “MENTORSHIP” for details. bod. | modern Pilates education
Always something beautiful in the world you just have to see it
Let’s hear your thoughts 🤎 Less reps the better for modern palates. We focus on time under tension to get the muscles to work a little more. bod. | modern Pilates education

FORM CHECK: back floor lunge Love this move for your hamstring but a lot can go wrong when pulling against tension of a spring load. If your lower back starts to hurt, modify. Smaller range of motion, lighter spring load, or do it at the front. A strong stabilizer is needed for this move. Both in your core and your working leg. The main thing to look for is the back and upper body. If you’re too upright it puts a lot of tension in the lower back. Hinge slightly forward and only go as far as your body allows you. It’s a tough move so don’t forget to give your body a break if needed bod. | modern Pilates education
Can you spot the difference ? Sculpt: beat based, cardio aspect, using a sequence of moves and different muscle groups Modern Pilates: targets one general muscle group, time under tension, precision, controlled movement. Both are great ! But it’s time to know that there IS a difference 🤎 bod. | modern Pilates education

Knee circles: mat vs. reformer 🤎 Same outer-glute focus. On the reformer, the strap behind the knee adds resistance from the springs. Keep your hips stacked and your core engaged. Make the circle small and controlled, keeping your pelvis steady as your leg moves. bod. | modern pilates education
Sculpt sequence vs. modern pilates block Programming is similar but there is a difference, can you spot it? bod. | modern Pilates education
Which version of split squat are you programming? No more in between of which split squat is taught. Pick one and tell your clients why. Both are incredible but work different primary muscle groups. Hinge: primary glute secondary hamstring & quad Shoulders stacked over hips: primary quad secondary glute & a little inner thigh Pick a theme and stick with it, be intentional about your programming. bod. | modern pilates education
I know Halloween is scary but your form doesn’t have to be 👻
