- I am so excited to hear that pandas are making a grand return to both the Smithsonian National Zoo and the San Diego Zoo this year! The pair of 2-year-old pandas heading to the National Zoo, Qing Bao and Bao Li, have deep-rooted ties to Washington. Bao Li’s mother, Bao Bao, was born at the zoo in 2013, and his grandparents, Tian Tian and Mei Xiang, left a significant panda-shaped void in the hearts of DC residents when they departed from the zoo last year. With Qing Bao and Bao Li’s arrival, let’s celebrate not just their presence, but the ongoing and universal dedication to preserving the panda species and the natural world they inhabit. In collaboration with the China Wildlife Conservation Association, the Smithsonian will continue to contribute to global panda conservation initiatives, sparking a new era of “panda diplomacy”. #pandas #pandamonium #ipanda #giantpanda #pandacub #endangered #china #conservation @Nikon USA #NikonPro #NikonAmbassador #nikonpro #dc #smithsonian #nationalzoo #sandiegozoo #pandadiplomacy
- Photos by Ami Vitale / From the sandy paths along Lake Tanganyika to a remote village in Bihar, India, or the bustling streets of Detroit, bicycles are symbols of sustainable mobility. Born in the 1800s, these two-wheeled wonders have gone from clunky contraptions to sleek machines. Whether navigating urban sprawls or winding through rural landscapes, bicycles offer more than just a mode of travel—they represent a commitment to a greener, healthier planet. So, don your helmet, grasp the handlebars, and join the global movement, one pedal at a time! @Nikon USA #NikonPro #NikonAmbassador #nikonpro #worldbikeday #india #detroit #bicycles #greentransportation
- 3On World Bee Day, let's celebrate the incredible transformation sparked by the city of Genk, Belgium. Once a coal mining hub shrouded in pollution and hardship, Genk decided to rewrite its story. In the 1980s, as the curtain fell on the coal era, Genk embraced a bold vision of sustainability. Former mining wastelands morphed into lush green havens, a testament to the city's commitment to combating pollution and rejuvenating its ecosystem. Today, Genk is a hive of activity, boasting 69 vibrant community gardens teeming with life. Here, residents not only nurture their own organic crops but also play a vital role in the resurgence of bee populations. Against the backdrop of economic trials triggered by the decline of coal mining, steel industries, and the exodus of major car manufacturers, Genk's innovation has revitalized the city. I had the honor of capturing this inspiring story for Lavazza's #GoodToEarth campaign, alongside the talented Italian artist Francesco Camillo Giorgino. His brush breathed life into featureless walls, painting emotive scenes that vividly portrayed Genk's remarkable recovery. #nikon #nikonpro #nikonambassador #nikonpro #beedaybash #savethebees #pollenatorgarden

3Diving deep into the world of GIANT PANDAS and the incredible efforts to save the species was one of the most unimaginable explorations I've ever had. For more than 30 years, researchers have been working on breeding and releasing pandas, augmenting existing populations, and protecting their habitats—and they’re finally having success. In 2016, their status was upgraded from critical to vulnerable. Today, their numbers are going up in the wild. China is also taking captive-born pandas and releasing them back into the wild. The bears will have no lines of schoolchildren waiting to meet them or a fan page on Facebook but as the pandas trundle off into the wild, they take with them hope for their entire species. The slow and steady incline in the population of giant pandas is a testament to the perseverance and efforts of scientists and conservationists. China may be on its way to successfully saving its most famous ambassador and, in the process, putting the wild back into an icon. National Panda Day is SATURDAY, March 16th so dust off your panda suits and celebrate like an Ursidae! See more Panda Love by following @Vital Impacts #panda #pandas #pandamonium #china @Nikon USA

- 2An international team of scientists has achieved an unprecedented milestone in rhinoceros reproduction by orchestrating the world's first pregnancy through embryo transfer at Ol Pejeta Conservancy @olpejetaconservancy in Kenya. The team confirmed a 70-day pregnancy with a 6.4 cm male embryo from a southern white rhino. The success of the southern white rhino embryo transfer and pregnancy serves as an emphatic proof of concept, propelling the team toward the pivotal next step—the transfer of northern white rhino embryos into a surrogate mother. This unparalleled achievement cements its status as a cornerstone in the unwavering mission to rescue the northern white rhino from the precipice of extinction. I can not wait to share more news in the coming months. #rhinos #northernwhiterhino #wildlife #conservation #kenya
