Ami VitaleI am so excited to hear that pandas are making a grand return to both the Smithsonian National Zoo and the San Diego Zoo this year! The pair of 2-year-old pandas heading to the National Zoo, Qing Bao and Bao Li, have deep-rooted ties to Washington. Bao Li’s mother, Bao Bao, was born at the zoo in 2013, and his grandparents, Tian Tian and Mei Xiang, left a significant panda-shaped void in the hearts of DC residents when they departed from the zoo last year. With Qing Bao and Bao Li’s arrival, let’s celebrate not just their presence, but the ongoing and universal dedication to preserving the panda species and the natural world they inhabit. In collaboration with the China Wildlife Conservation Association, the Smithsonian will continue to contribute to global panda conservation initiatives, sparking a new era of “panda diplomacy”. #pandas #pandamonium #ipanda #giantpanda #pandacub #endangered #china #conservation @Nikon USA #NikonPro #NikonAmbassador #nikonpro #dc #smithsonian #nationalzoo #sandiegozoo #pandadiplomacy
