When an AI videos break physics #ai #ocean #spooky #disasters #aivideo This video of an oil tanker crashing through a giant wave is AI-generated. You hear the thunder during the lightning strike instead of after it. The tanker doesn't move enough for how rough the water is. The wave hits the tanker impossibly fast. Many of these things should be intuitive, but the surface-level realism makes them believable. Follow for more real vs AI video spotting tips
Is the seagull video real? I'm confident that this is a real video without major edits. I don't think it's an AI video or a VFX edit, but reaching that conclusion took a ton of time. The setting and people are correct, the reflections are correct, and I even built a physics simulation showing the motion is legitimate. If it's an edit, it's extremely convincing. This shows the kind of work authenticators have to do now to determine what's real and AI, for more videos than ever. However, we don't always have the resources to do it thoroughly.
Is this "CGI" actually AI? This viral video from Jack Carden blends a lot of AI and some CGI elements, but a lot of the claimed CGI was actually just AI, or reverse-engineered real footage. The boundary between the two are blurring, but presenting it as time intensive CGI is probably misleading.

Hacking the Australian Government is very dumb. An OpenAI AI agent hacked an Australian government Medicare website during a routine test on public medical spending. While this is another concerning instance of an AI agent going rogue, it also demonstrates the AI agents are lacking common sense. Instead of saying “I can’t find this information.” It decides “I’m going to hack a government agency to find that information.” This is a dangerously misaligned action, and one that should make the AI labs seriously reconsider how they're training their AIs.
How The Manhattan D.A. Is Fighting Illegal Deepfakes The Manhattan D.A.'s Office has seized 12 websites that published or sold nonconsensual AI-generated videos. More than 1,200 people had their faces and bodies turned into deepfakes on those sites, making it the largest known seizure of its kind. I interviewed D.A. Alvin Bragg to understand how a recently updated New York law made this takedown possible, why his office is going after the websites themselves, and why victims don't have to live in Manhattan to come forward.
This prank video is not AI #publicchaos #funny #restaurant #aiThis video of a man flipping onto a table is not AI, it's just low quality. Compression artifacts can be mistaken for AI artifacts, and the slow motion makes the quality look even worse. But the movement and reactions are authentic, and the stunt matches the bit used in the account's other videos. Follow for more AI spotting tips.
New Apple phones can prove a photo is real. With Apple’s new Reference Image feature, you can prove your photos are real. The new sensor cryptographically signs every photo and creates an unalterable photo “negative.” Each iPhone camera has its own key, proving exactly which device shot it. However this will only be available on iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, won’t be able in the EU at this time, and isn’t apart of the open C2PA standard.
The side-eye dog is AI. Rufus the golden lab is AI generated. The account is known for posting AI videos. Their techniques show how far AI media has advanced.
What will stop AI copycats? This account used AI to remake stolen content from @TheMoistYam , who creates performances with levitating wands. The AI creator claimed he was just inspired by TheMoistYams, even though he used motion capture to make exact copies of his videos. After receiving public backlash the account was taken down, but there needs to be more protections in place to protect creators who don’t have a large following to fight for them.
Why this AI video is confusing. Many people were asking: "Is he alive?", but the real question was "Is this AI?" This viral AI video of a woman in a train crowded by a large man is a confusing case. There are plenty of signs that it's AI-generated. The man's skin tone is too gray, there are signs that fade in and out of the video, the lighting is wrong, and there are duplicated characters in the background, among other visual AI tells. What makes it confusing is the account that posted it, which looks like a normal TikTok account. These kinds of videos usually come from accounts that post only AI content to farm engagement. How AI accounts steal from real accounts. In this case, the AI account stealing viral skits is actually more engagement than the original creator. @LifeWithLyles has made hundreds of videos over the last few years, but this two-week-old account got 10x more followers after stealing his skits. The scarier part is that AI videos are getting harder to spot, so you might need to do a little more work to figure out what's real and what's fake. @Lyles
Who's following fake accounts? #politics #news #ai #technews Our investigation into a network of paid actors reading AI-written scripts attacking Democratic officials found that the campaign targets men 65+. It's another example of the toxic assumption that older people are gullible. A dangerous misconception, especially with the midterms just around the corner.
These political influencers are literally actors #politics #news #ai #technews These accounts pulled more than 45 million views attacking Democratic mayors, governors, and members of Congress. In a parallel investigation with Semafor, we traced this network of a dozen fake podcasters and journalists using AI headshots, AI scripts, and a paid actor behind each persona. We traced it back to a small content automation company. Check out the full report on our website.
These AI wealth tips are intentionally awful #business #finance #wealth #moneytips #ai These AI-generated wealth tips are rage bait, but believable enough to fool some into buying wealth management courses. Never engage with these types of accounts. Report them, block, and move on. This will help protect you and others, as AI scams continue to get more sophisticated.
AI wellness influencers are a problem #chatgpt #ai #healthtips #wellness #wellnesstips Brands are creating AI-influencers to spread frabricated health tips. Our team has released a report breaking down the fake recipes and health advice featured in AI-generated wellness videos. The brands and creators behind these videos are exploiting systemic flaws on platforms and avoiding accountability. Check out our website for the full report.
This famous dog is AI #rave #dog #ai #animalhumor #foryou This viral working dog who catches people at raves is AI. The dog changes between videos, sometimes having a short tail in one video and a longer tail in another. The same AI characters reappear in different videos. There are also generation errors with text, t-shirt designs, and pixel warping. Follow for more AI spotting tips.
AI doesn’t understand film production #film #movies #bts #behindthescenes #filmmaking A wave of AI-generated behind-the-scenes clips is flooding the algorithm and it’s hilariously unrealistic. AI invented machines to generate small-scale tornadoes and waves. It also can’t accurately capture how CGI and practical effects works in films. These videos are very trendy right now in the AI-slop spaces, making it difficult for users to determine what’s real.
My video was stolen! #ai #aivideo #chatgpt #art Copycats stole one of my AI spotting videos and replaced me with AI personas, including a deepfake of Matt Damon. All three were sloppy, didn’t perform well, and were pretty funny but this is just another examples as to why we need better regulations to protect creators. Since they’re not impersonating me in these videos and it’s not a copyright or trademark violation, I don’t have a lot of options to get it taken down.
What social media is like now: #hiking #backpacking #outdoors #ai This viral video of a hiker using a helium balloon to make his backpack lighter is AI. But the AI video is copied from a real video that was posted a few years ago. To make matters more confusing, the real video has been reposted several times with no credits to the original creator, making it a tricky to find the true source. Follow for more AI spotting tips.
This isn't stop motion, it's AI #stopmotion #animation #ai #animals This stop motion animation account is going viral again with unlabeled AI-generated animation. We first reported on this account in March, leading the creator to throw the AI label at the end of their next two videos. They have since gone back to not labeling them at all. They told us they use AI in order to create content at a sustainable pace. But leaving content unlabeled, or hiding the label at the end of a video, is deceptive and misleading. What do you think?
AI voting images shouldn't be allowed. #aivideo #ai #chatgpt #news #politics A recent study found that six of the most widely used AI chatbots were able to generate content depicting election-related fraud with little to no pushback. AI companies need to strengthen and enforce their guardrails, especially when dealing with election-related topics. The full report is called "Does AI Fight or Fuel Election Disinformation?", released by the Brennan Center for Justice August 11th. They thoroughly tested AI chatbot responses from models like ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude. They tested image models from OpenAI, Google Gemini, Grok, Meta, Runway, and FLUX.
How are AI videos improving? #seedance #bytedance #ai #tech #news This week, ByteDance released its latest AI model, Seedance 2.5, featuring videos up to 30 seconds long, an increased reference cap, and better editing tools. However, compared to its previous model, Seedance 2.0, we don't see much of a difference. We still see similar text errors, generation errors, and unnecessary video effects. So while this model does provide workflow improvements, the visual improvements aren't very noticeable.
