How do I use AI? #ai #medialiteracy #chatgpt #hankgreen There’s a huge conversation about if it’s appropriate for creators to use AI. I don’t use AI in my creative process, but the company I co-founded does use AI for coding and data visualization. I feel it’s necessary to disclose this because it’s hard to separate JeremyFindsAI from Riddance.
This political influencer isn’t real #politics #chatgpt #news #medialiteracy
How AI videos are changing #bookish #booktok #targetrun #handmade #costcorun AI drop shippers are switching to safer video formats after being called out by viewers for generating videos with undertones of political violence. Now they're dominating the "run to Target" and "run to Ikea" trends with their drop-shipping slop. Look at these accounts as a whole instead of relying on pixel-peeping to determine whether an account is AI or not.
Why are these doctors all the same? #shampoo #skincare #beautytips #womenshealth These three 'doctors,” a dermatologist, an OBGYN, and a butt doctor, are AI, and they have the exact same face. They're part of a trend of AI doctors telling people what beauty products to buy and which to avoid. You'll notice they all rotate between the same handful of poses and have extra fingers. Not to mention, they have offices in very odd places. Be cautious when you see photo carousel posts from new accounts.
Is this proof that bots are taking over? Not really. This graph from Cloudflare shows that there are more bots than humans making HTTP requests. This effectively means that more people are using AI to browse the internet for them, instead of going to websites themselves. This is worrying for advertisers and those who use page views as a metric to get paid and measure value, but it has nothing to do with bots on social media or AI generated content.
How AI videos game the algorithm #BehindTheScenes #PracticalEffects #MovieMagic #ai #movies This behind the scenes video of a giant wave destroying a miniature Miami is a a known, labeled AI Instagram Reel. It got over 500M views in under a day; more than even the biggest creators will ever get on a single reel. The algorithm is pushing these videos hard. Why is that happening, does it serve anyone’s interests, and will this need to be reigned in?
AI health scare videos are going viral #healthtips #healthadvice #ai #chatgpt AI-generated “health “ experts are stealing old viral health-scare scripts and just swapping in new AI avatars. It traces back to a real-creator trend last year, using false health claims like burnt food, deodorant, and sleeping near your phone cause cancer. Now AI accounts are recycling these claims for engagement, with no concern for the misinformation they may spread or the people they may harm.
An AI account with a dark past #ai #martialarts #taekwondo #news #aivideo full article is called “S**xualized AI videos of kids create real problems on Instagram,” on the Riddance Substack. I wrotr about how these videos served as an introduction into a very dark algorithm. AI accounts using AI videos can avoid accountability and re-invent themselves when they get caught.
Why OpenAI’s Huggingface hack is different #chatgpt #technews #news #aisafety #ai I think people are burying the lede: this is effectively a misaligned AI that escaped containment. One of OpenAI’s tests went rogue, hacking into Huggingface to try to pass a benchmark. This is an early warning about how even narrowly-scoped AI testing can have dire consequences.
How to spot AI influencers #womensfashion #ai #dance Even the most realistic AI videos have tells, but sometimes that means looking at the account as a whole. This account uses an AI character of a woman to sell clothes. It reskins stolen dance videos multiple videos and uses image-to-video models to keep consistency. The camera motion and position doesn’t always match in the selfie videos. The iPhone models change between videos, most likely because the training data is from last year. Suno caught stealing music #ai #news #technews #chatgpt #suno The AI music company Suno was revealed to be directly scraping music in-house, as reported on by @404 Media today. This amounted to over 40 years worth of music. AI datasets have been controversial as is, but it’s rare to see evidence of an AI company scraping this aggressively.
Who’s making AI Jesus slop? These AI videos are clearly not real, but they are still all over social media. We found over 100 accounts exclusively posting these videos. This sort of AI content is often used to seed and boost accounts that will later swap over to other AI videos, either after they are sold or switch operations. Follow for more reporting on AI videos and accounts.
Are the jumping dogs AI? #dogs #pets #cutedogs #ai #animalhumor These jump-roping dogs are real and likely a repost from a Chinese social media account. The Chinese characters are correct, and the dogs' motion and physics are accurate. We traced the original video to Spectee, a Japanese tech company that verifies social media content. We also tried generating a similar video, and AI can't accurately recreate the motion. Follow for more AI-spotting tips.
The clipping and AI video stories from mainstream outlets are basically advertisements for courses and services. #aivideo #clipping #videoediting #media
How to find “undetectable” AI videos: This account’s AI-generated one liners have gone extremely viral over the past couple of months. People freak out a bit when they learn they’re AI videos. The short AI generations are harder to detect because they’re pretty simple and avoid many giveaways. But when looking at the account as a whole, a clear pattern emerges, helping you distinguish which ones are real or AI generated. Follow for more media literacy and AI spotting tips.
AI World Cup Videos #worldcup #soccer #chatgpt #messi #psg AI-generated videos of soccer stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar are going around social media right now. They show these players in one-on-one scenarios, always scoring a goal, and usually posted when a game with these football players actually happened. This makes the search engine optimized videos show up on your feed. Follow for more AI spotting and media literacy tips.
The AI doom loop is here #worldcup #ai #chatgpt #football #celebrity This viral video of Kylian Mbappé is AI, including that random AI character that’s supposedly his girlfriend. But Instagram's AI summary cites another AI video, correctly labeled as AI, to 'prove' it's real. AI slop is feeding on itself in a loop, and Meta might not even know it's happening
Why are they using AI ads? #ai #dogs #puppies #dogsswimming #doglifejackets These dog life jacket ads are AI-generated, and commenters say they'd rather see real people using real products. These ads appear to be a part of a drop shipping operation, apparently selling dog life jackets with a chin rest, which uses AI to create fake videos of the product. If you suspect an account is posting AI content, check whether its posts look too similar and how long the account has been active.
Is the soccer punch video AI? #worldcup #fifa #soccer #football #UCL The original video is of Enric Saborit from AEK Larnaca FC, playing Crystal Palace in the UECL. The AI video shows his punching the other soccer player, protesting the red card. In real life, it was a controversial yellow card that turned into a red card. This viral video has been spreading around during the World Cup, but it’s an AI video generated out of a real one. Follow for more real vs. AI video and media literacy tips.
Why real quokkas rule #quokka #cuteanimals #adorablewildlife #australia #animalhumor This cute quokka video is AI. Quokkas are a vulnerable species from Australia that look like they’re smiling. In this fake video, the quokka’s proportions are wrong. Its head is too big and resembles a groundhog more than a real quokka. Otherwise there’s visual errors with the “posters” shoes and the quokka disappears and reappears when it turns. Check out the Australia Zoo or Robert Irwin to see real videos of quokkas.
Is this plane video AI? #aviation #aivideo #planespotting #boeing #ai This video of a Boeing 777F made in insanely low pass in Texas over the Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center. Initially, skeptics questioned if it could be an AI video. FlightRadar24’s data backs up the evidence that this is a real video, with no AI giveaways. Follow for more real vs. AI spotting videos.
This old businessman isn't real. These business tips might seem like wisdom from an old man, but he's AI. First, this kind of "announcer" voice would require a mic right up against the speaker's mouth. Second, there's a crooked binder, the phone cable is cut in two, and the video quality is too smooth for an analog scan-line look. Third, the account post similar, AI videos. AI copies of real videos #ai #fifaworldcup #fifaworldcup2026 #Brazilfootball #timesquare AI slop accounts are copying trending videos to trick viewers and get more clicks. One account copies a video of Brazil soccer fans celebrating in Times Square. You can tell it’s fake by the mismatch jerseys, unrealistic crowd sizes, garbled text, and ultra-smooth faces.
