- 7For years, I thought I was the only one. The only one buying medical devices to ācheckā myself. The only one taking endless pictures of my body to send to people with the question: āIs this normal?ā The only one who could tell my exact heart rate without even checking my pulseābecause I was so hyper-focused on it. But hereās the truth: I wasnāt alone. Millions of people live with health anxiety. And what feels like a āweirdā compulsion is often just the anxiety trying to keep us safe. The problem isāit doesnāt keep us safe. It keeps us stuck. The checking, the Googling, the reassurance-seekingā¦ it only makes anxiety louder. Thatās why I built the Anxiety Fitness Community: To give you access to the skills and knowledge I never had, so you donāt have to go through this alone. This week, weāre running a FREE therapy skills workshop inside the community: āØ āBreaking Free from Rumination & Worryā led by psychotherapist @anxious_and_brave (Sophie). Sheāll share practical, evidence-based tools you can start using right away to break the cycle of overthinking and reassurance seeking. š go to the link in my bio to join for free. Spaces are limited. You donāt have to stay trapped in health anxiety. There are skills that can help.
- 7Health anxiety controlled my life for years. Most people around me didnāt even notice, because it can be invisible. But inside? It was chaos. Every day felt like life or death: panic, reassurance, Google, repeat. Living with severe health anxiety isnāt just āworry.ā Itās exhausting in ways you canāt explain unless youāve been there. You wake up already scanning for symptoms. You go to bed convinced somethingās wrong. But hereās the thing: health anxiety is also one of the most treatable conditions out there. Thatās what gave me hope in the darkest moments. Recovery isnāt quick and itās not easy. But it IS possible. I built this community because I know how lonely this feels. And I donāt want anyone else to go through it alone. š Comment āGet appā and Iāll send you the link to download it for free. Inside the Anxiety Fitness Community, youāll get: āØ 2 FREE workshops every month (worth Ā£120+) āØ A safe space to share your wins and read inspiring wins from others āØ A place to ask questions to the community AND our in-house therapists Iām trying to make real support, through community, experts by experience, and trained professionals more accessible than ever. Not everyone can access therapy. But everyone deserves support. Join now for free.

- TW: How AGORAPHOBIA can develop (and how it can be avoided)
- TW: How NOT to support someone who is having a panic attack. There are many things wrong with this approach. Telling someone to "just relax" doesn't work, they already want to relax. If they could, they would. They wouldn't be having a panic attack! Saying "you can breathe" in a condescending tone might be factually true, but it's invalidating. During panic, it feels like you can't breathe ā brushing that off only adds fear and shame. "If you couldn't you wouldn't be talking to me" is just adding insult to injury. Using phrases like "you need to calm down, you're overreacting" suggests that their distress is a burden or inconvenience rather than something real and deserving of compassion. Breathing exercises are commonly suggested, but during panic they can backfire, focusing on breathing might actually intensify panic, or create a dependency that prevents learning the most powerful truth: panic itself is safe. Instead of shouting commands or rushing them through it... Be present. Validate their fear without feeding it. Donāt tell them what to feel. Remind them theyāre not alone. Ask what they need when theyāre able to answer. Be a grounded source of calm when they canāt be. Thatās the most helpful thing you can do.

- How NOT to 'help' a panic attack (and how you can help instead).
- Which video was a nocturnal panic attack and which was night anxiety? The first video was a noturnal panic attack. A nocturnal panic attack is essential exactly the same as a normal panic attack, except it happens during or on the onset of sleep. There are different theories as to why this happens, such as the theory of fear of lack of vigilence. In the context of nocturnal panic, fear of lack of vigilance describes the anxious belief that if you let your guard down in sleep, youāll miss a danger or health crisis, leading the body to jolt awake in panic as if constant watchfulness were necessary for survival. Night anxiety, or a night time anxiety attack on the other hand often involves lying awake with racing thoughts, noticing every heartbeat or breath, and ruminating as the hours until morning tick by. Instead of rest, the mind becomes preoccupied with worry, and the fear of not being able to sleep, or a fear of something bad happening if you are to sleep. No matter which one you may go through, there is hope and help available.
