Part 1 | The search for Chief Officer Hou 🚢 This is the first video in a series of updates on my journey to reconnect with Chief Officer Hou, from the Chinese flagged cargo ship that passed me on my solo Mid-Pacific row.

6What a special day 💙 I got to sit down with Jennifer Hudson and share the story of my row across the Pacific, and then @jenniferhudsonshow surprised me by bringing out an official Guinness World Records adjudicator to present me with my records. There were so many people, so much support, and so many little moments that made this row possible. Getting to stand there and celebrate what came from all of it was incredibly special. So grateful for this experience, and for every person who helped me get here. 🌊
I’m so grateful to be able to support a community that has made me who I am. Thank you to everyone that helped make this massive moment happen. We were able to donate $220,000 to @whalefoundation . This money will translate into hundreds of mental health sessions, health insurance assistance and scholarships for Grand Canyon River Guides and the community.

It’s official! I’ve received my Guinness World Records and I’m so excited. Fastest solo row (female class, there’s no FKT record) and youngest female solo row. @Guinness World Records
Same water, different flavor. #grandcanyon #whitewater
Meet Faye, my ’84 Vanagon. 🚐❤️ Faye was one of my first Big Hard Scary Things. She taught me how to fix things, problem solve, and trust that I could probably figure it out—even when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. She also gave me freedom. Freedom to try, and to realize I was capable of a lot more than I thought. Turns out an old van can teach you a lot about rowing oceans.
We did this together. You all helped me raise $220,000 for mental health, physical health and educational scholarships for Grand Canyon River Guides and their community. This money has a bigger impact than I can really explain in a video. I am so grateful. Thank you for making this happen.
Sometimes you just have to pull. #grandcanyon #whitewater @Hatch River Expeditions
Grand Canyon is an incredible and awe inspiring piece of our public lands. It’s also a powerful, dynamic place that reminds us, that we are not the ones in control in the backcountry. Thank you to the National Park Service and everyone who shows up in the moments when things get hard. And to the Grand Canyon river community: you are something truly special. If you find yourself needing support after the hard days, the Whale Foundation is there to love you through them.
Heading back to Grand Canyon and the river. Why do I need so much gear for one trip? I’ve never been able to answer that.
A chat with the ocean rowing legend @Liz. Liz Wardley was a big support through my solo row this summer. Now it’s looking like we may have some similar ocean rowing dreams coming up. 👀 Full conversation on my YouTube - YouRowKelsey
Reasons to call the Coast Guard vs. reasons you shouldn’t call the Coast Guard. 🛟🌊 The Coast Guard is always there to help - that’s what makes them so amazing. A little Coast Guard education, with some very qualified professionals and one ocean rower asking the important questions.
I got to check in with one of my heroes, a fellow ocean rower and all around incredible sea woman @Liz. She was half of my weather team when I crossed the Pacific this summer, and it seems like our lives may parallel each other for a bit longer.
An amazing opportunity to help @Francesca Clapcich on her delivery from Boston to Newport. You definitely go a little bit faster on an IMOCA race boat than an ocean rowing boat.
Just landed in Boston to say hey to the Boston coast guard and pair up with @Francesca Clapcich and 11th hour racing as they prep for The Ocean Race Atlantic.
Mini Hard Scary Thing #1 I’m currently in between Big Hard Scary Things, but I don’t want to stop choosing things that challenge me. There’s something powerful about pursuing the things that scare us a little. They remind us what we’re capable of—and sometimes choosing the hard and scary thing can be one of the best decisions we make. So I went back to a place I deeply missed: Grand Canyon. A new trail, at night, route finding through the dark. Here’s to continuing to choose the hard, scary things.
Day 29 of my 43-day solo Mid-Pacific row, a longline tuna fisherman out of Honolulu changed my day. His daughter had encouraged him to come say hello, and he pulled alongside my boat with a plate of fresh sashimi he wanted to share. It was one of the kindest gestures I experienced out there. I couldn't accept it because I needed to maintain my unsupported status, but his generosity meant more than the meal ever could. The ocean can feel impossibly big, but moments like this remind you just how connected we really are. I'll never forget his kindness.
Surreal moments while making genuine connections with other strong women. @hilton
We are over here shaking with joy.
Heading back to California via cargo ship is the best way I could imagine saying -not goodbye- but, see you soon to the ocean.
I had the coolest possible ride to explore O’ahu with. Thanks @Honolulu Coffee Co. for lending me the SueBrew. She was a dream.
Training is never perfect- it’s always fit around real life. But showing up for yourself is so much more important than being perfect.
