She taught me how to fix things, problem solve, and trust that I could probably figure it out—even when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. She also gave me freedom. Freedom to try, and to realize I was capable of a lot more than I thought. Turns out an old van can teach you a lot about rowing oceans.
