day in the life of a Thunderbirds pilot!
one of the hardest parts about therapy dog work is that you often don't know the outcome, but in this rare case, we got the opportunity to reunite with Amara two years after meeting her in the Children's Hospital 💛 She is still undergoing treatment for leukemia, but is only a few months away from completion! Here's to one of the bravest humans we've ever met.
#DysonPartner what my wife thinks guests will do when they come over… 😂 With two Goldens and a toddler, the Dyson Clean+Wash Hygiene wet cleaner is perfect for tackling muddy paw prints, spills, and everyday messes. We love that it washes our floors with fresh water, keeps dirty water and debris separate, and even self-cleans when we’re done. @Dyson USA #DysonHome
come to the zoo with Ellie and Emma 😂
Ellie's smile says it all 🥺
making the perfect phone background 🥺
only people with dogs will understand 😂
I won't make this mistake again 😂
#USAAPartner How is it possible that I feel like I forgot everything about having a newborn? Getting ready for baby #2 has meant remembering burping, wake windows, and somehow relearning swaddles. Seriously, how are swaddles so hard? But while we’re thinking about all the baby stuff, we’re also thinking about the bigger things that come with growing our family. We’ve had @USAA Life Insurance Company for years, and although we have a military connection, it’s not required to apply. If you’re going through a big life change like having a baby, getting married, or buying a home, it’s worth checking out. Learn more at USAA.com/Life
Emma’s nose changes colors 🤯 Every winter, it slowly goes from black to pink. The first time it happened, we thought it was permanent. Then summer came, and her nose turned black again. It’s done that every year so far, but now we’re curious to see if it will turn black again this summer… or if the pink is here to stay. 👀
Emma almost failed her therapy dog test… 😬
I thought I was giving Ellie the best life possible. I loved her, spoiled her, took her on adventures, and never questioned whether I was doing the right things for her. Looking back, there’s one mistake I wish I had caught much sooner. Thankfully, we made changes. More walks. More play. A healthier lifestyle. And over time, Ellie reached her ideal weight. Today, she’s almost 10 years old, 19 pounds lighter than her heaviest weight, and honestly has WAY more energy than she did when she was 3. Please do me a favor. Take another look at your dog. Sometimes it’s hard to notice changes when you see them every day. Do your research and talk with your veterinarian to make sure your dog is at a healthy weight and getting the nutrition they need. If you’re considering a change in food, @Spot & Tango UnKibble has been a great fit for Ellie and Emma and has played an important role in Ellie’s weight-loss journey. If you’d like to try UnKibble, you can use code GOLDEN to save 60%. #SpotAndTangoPartner

getting a second dog was the best decision!

Emma wasn't so sure about that third kick 🥺
Emma's dream came true 🥺
#USAAPartner Less than half of Americans know the true meaning of Memorial Day. It’s not about thanking veterans for their service. It’s a day to pause, honor, and remember the men and women who gave their lives while serving. Two years ago, we visited the @USAA Poppy Wall of Honor in Washington, D.C., which contains over 600,000 poppies, each representing a life lost in service to our country since World War I. While we were there, a woman named Heidi came up to meet Ellie and Emma after hearing their names, the same names as her granddaughters. That simple moment turned into a conversation I’ll never forget. She told me about her son, PFC Jacob H. Wykstra. Later that night, I realized something I didn’t expect. The day Jacob was killed in Afghanistan, I was there. I was part of the crew sent to recover the helicopter he was in. Ten years later, we found ourselves standing in the same place as his mom. Jacob was 21 years old and just two weeks from coming home. He loved dogs, made people smile, and had a way of lifting everyone around him. Behind every poppy is someone whose story deserves to be remembered. This Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember them. 6In January 2025, after the tragic mid-air collision near DCA, Katie dropped everything. She had no big plan. Just two therapy dogs and the desire to help. What she walked into was heartbreaking. But the moments that followed of quiet comfort, gentle presence, and real connection were powerful. Katie ended up spending two full days at the airport rotating between Ellie and Emma, sitting with families in their deepest pain. I’m so proud of her. Even while I was out of town, she showed up with such selflessness and heart. We continue to hold every family affected in our thoughts and prayers.
