- 🎶🏺 4th Regional Culture Festival in Żelazowa Wola 📆 5-6 September 2026 Folk culture was an exceptionally important source of inspiration for Fryderyk Chopin. He took great pleasure in hearing that the way he played was connected to the culture of his native land. The Regional Culture Festival offers an opportunity to discover the traditional culture of Mazovia and the surrounding regions – traditions that Chopin greatly admired and often creatively transformed into musical forms. What happened during the event’s fourth edition? Watch this reel to get a glimpse into all the attractions!

- 🎹 One work, two sound worlds. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 in two contemporary performances from the 22nd Chopin and his Europe Festival. Víkingur Ólafsson performs on a modern concert grand with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali. Tomasz Ritter performs on an 1851 Streicher historical piano with {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna under the musical direction of Martyna Pastuszka. Here, the same score is heard in two contemporary performances. One unfolds in the sound world of a modern concert grand and a symphony orchestra; the other in the meeting of an 1851 Streicher and a period-instrument orchestra. What matters are the details: the breath of a phrase, the colour of the sound, the range of dynamics, tempo and the way the piano answers the orchestra. From the opening E-flat major chord to the final rondo, the same Beethoven unfolds in two different concert situations. Two perspectives, one Beethoven — and ever-new ways of hearing the same music. 🎥 The full video is available on our YouTube channel 👉 @chopininstitute #chopinandhiseuerope2026
- 💿 New album by the RGG trio: „The Soul of Soil” 🎶 Łukasz Ojdana - piano 🎶 Maciej Garbowski - double bass 🎶 Krzysztof Gradziuk - drums The album is a result of the trio’s performance during the 2025 Expo in Osaka, where they were invited by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. Krzysztof Gradziuk characterized the album in a recent interview with Aleksandra Szatan: “We recorded nine compositions by Fryderyk Chopin. These will be interpretations of mazurkas, nocturnes, polonaises, and etudes. Many people who do not know Chopin’s work well will not even feel that Fryderyk Chopin is there – literally. They will hear the sounds of RGG, because it is all so imbued with our sound, our jazz, improvisational language.” 🛒 Get your copy: https://voiceshop.pl/pl/p/RGG-THE-SOUL-OF-SOIL-/52865 __ „The Soul of Soil” has been published under the patronage of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.
- Have you ever wondered what Chopin might have done, apart from composing and playing the piano, if he were alive today? 😅 Here’s what the participants of the Chopin and His Europe Festival have to say on the subject 😌 #chopin #interview
- 💿 Bruce Liu talks about his experience playing historical pianos and the new recording featuring the inaugural concert of the 2nd Chopin Competition on Period Instruments! On 2 October 2023, at the Warsaw Philharmonic, at the invitation of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, pianists who are shaping today’s musical world – an icon of the piano and young virtuosos – came together: Martha Argerich, Bruce Liu and Tomasz Ritter. Two winners of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition and the winner of the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments. Together with the {oh!} Orchestra, conducted by Vaclav Luks, they inaugurated the 2nd Chopin Competition on Period Instruments. They played Beethoven. This was no coincidence. The concert opened with Dai Fujikura’s “Bridging Realms” – a piece commissioned by the Institute – performed by Naruhiko Kawaguchi, himself a laureate of the Chopin Competition on Period Instruments. Symbolically. For it was an evening where different musical dimensions, eras and sensibilities came together, featuring great and exceptional artists – each in their own way. A truly unique evening. This double-CD album captures that fleeting moment of musical bliss, a concentration of beauty, colour and extraordinary energy that swept through everyone present in the concert hall at the time. It’s a release that everyone should have at home, so they can say: “May this moment last forever…!” 🛒 The CD is available in our online store 👉 http://sklep.nifc.pl 🎧 You can also listen to it on all major streaming platforms. ____ The album was published as part of the project: “Activities carried out by the NIFC in 2026 in preparation for the centenary celebrations of the Chopin Competition, to be held in 2027.” Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage #KulturaŁączy
- 🎚️🎧 If Chopin was a contemporary composer, would he make music with the help of a looper? Find out during one of our workshops which can be conducted at your school! We invite students on a fascinating journey into the world of modern music creation, where a piece is created live – layer by layer, sound by sound. During the workshop, participants learn about the looper – a device which allows you to record short sound clips and loop them in real time. This makes it possible to create multi-layered musical compositions by gradually adding melody, rhythm, bass, and sound effects. Today, the looper is used by musicians across many genres – instrumentalists, DJs, and music producers – and its capabilities open up entirely new ways of creating music. The reference point for the participants’ creative activities is the music of Fryderyk Chopin, which serves as inspiration for exploring new sounds and contemporary interpretations. 👤 The workshops are led by Jakub Stec 🎛️ The organisers provide all the necessary equipment. 🕒 Duration: 90 min. 👥 Maximum number of participants: 25 osób 📧 Book a workshop or ask us a question: [email protected] More details 👉 https://muzeum.nifc.pl/en/muzeum/edukacja-artykul/1855_zapros-nas-do-siebie-klasy-4-8-szkoly-podstawowej/
