Jaguar. Early this morning, as we arrived at the Chuncho clay lick, just as the forest was beginning to wake up, it appeared silently along the riverbank in the Tambopata National Reserve. An unexpected, real moment where everything slows down and you realize how wild and authentic this place still is. This isn’t something you see every day, it’s what happens when you’re in the right place, at the right time, surrounded by pure wildlife. Would you imagine witnessing something like this on your next Amazon Rainforest experience? 📍Tambopata Research Center, Peru 🇵🇪 #jaguar #bigcat #amazonrainforest #peruvianamazon #tambopata

In this new episode of the Tambopata Macaw Project, we explore the predators that interact during the nesting stage, from arboreal mammals and rodents to snakes and birds of prey, all playing a role in the natural balance of the ecosystem. 🎥Discover what happens in real time. Macaws (Ara macao and Ara chloropterus) lay between one and four eggs, placed days apart, each one marking a new step in the cycle of life. Their white, nearly spherical shells are built to protect and sustain life, strong enough to support the mother during incubation, yet delicate enough to allow the developing embryo to breathe from the very first moment. For nearly a month, the female remains in the nest, keeping the eggs warm and stable. 👉 Follow this story as it happens, watch the live stream and experience the macaw life cycle in real time, link in our bio #macawsoftiktok #macaw #macaws #macawlovers

The South American tapir (Tapirus terrestris), also known as the Amazonian tapir or sachavaca, is the largest land mammal in the Amazon. Silent and solitary, it feeds on leaves and fruits as it moves through the forest, spreading the seeds that give new life to the Amazon Rainforest. When danger approaches, it seeks refuge in the water, escaping from jaguars, caimans, and anacondas. 📍Tambopata Research Center, Peru 🇵🇪 El tapir amazónico (Tapirus terrestris), o sachavaca, es el mamífero terrestre más grande de la Amazonía. The Peruvian Amazon holds scenes that seem almost impossible. In the Tambopata National Reserve, black spider monkeys emerge from the treetops to descend toward clay licks and feed on mineral-rich clay—a behavior recently recorded during this dry season. Why do they do it? According to several hypotheses, clay may act as a natural antidote, neutralizing toxins found in certain fruits and seeds, while also providing essential minerals such as sodium and calcium. In the Amazon, far from coastlines and isolated by mountain ranges, the soil and water are naturally low in sodium, making clay a vital resource in their diet. #monkeysoftiktok #spidermonkey #amazonwildlife

The Red and Green Macaw (Ara chloropterus) is one of the three largest macaw species in the Peruvian Amazon. It has a long, pointed tail, a red head and body, mostly blue wings with green upper wing coverts. Its white face is marked with distinctive red lines, making each individual as unique as a fingerprint. From our canopy towers, you can spot them flying over the forest or tending to their nests during the breeding season (November to March) — one inside the nest, the other perched nearby, communicating with soft calls. 📍Tambopata Research Center, 🇵🇪 El Guacamayo rojo y verde (Ara chloropterus) es una de las tres especies de guacamayos más grandes de la Amazonía peruana.
