Rainforest ExpeditionsThe South American tapir (Tapirus terrestris), also known as the Amazonian tapir or sachavaca, is the largest land mammal in the Amazon. Silent and solitary, it feeds on leaves and fruits as it moves through the forest, spreading the seeds that give new life to the Amazon Rainforest. When danger approaches, it seeks refuge in the water, escaping from jaguars, caimans, and anacondas. #sachavaca #amazontapir #southamericantapir #tapirusterrestris #bigmammals
