9Happy Halloween from the cutest costume wearers in town! 👯🐾 Share your own photos in the comments!
4Best Friends teams are currently on the ground helping people and pets impacted by flooding across the Navajo Nation, New Mexico and southeastern Utah. We're working side by side with local responders and animal welfare partners to get supplies to impacted communities and make space for displaced pets, as well as help keep people and their animals together. In the middle of all that, there’s Honey Bun. 🥹 Shortly after the flooding began a good Samaritan spotted this tiny puppy lying wet and motionless. She feared she hadn’t survived. But Honey Bun was alive. Thankfully she started to perk up and within a couple of days, she was eating well and looking brighter. After receiving some basic vet care and knowing she would be alright the very same woman that found her is now fostering Honey Bun while she waits to join a local rescue. 🧡 The work is still continuing across the region and as communities assess the damage new needs come to focus. You can support Best Friends and help more pets like Honey Bun get the help they need when disaster strikes. ➡️Donate now at the link in bio
2Adopt a pet like Andy! Ron Swanson, Mister Toosa, and Elmer are ready to share life’s adventures with someone special. Ron Swanson is a loyal companion who’s happiest when they’re right by your side. Mister Toosa has a friendly personality that makes every new face feel like a new friend. Elmer is always ready to get moving, whether that means exploring outside or discovering something new. Just like Andy, these pets remind us that companionship comes in many forms. Whether they’re your adventure buddy, your couch companion, or your biggest fan, every animal has something wonderful to offer. Their unique personalities are what make them one of a kind and deserving of a home. Learn about Snoopy & his siblings and adopt a character of your own at https://bestfriends.org/peanuts

4Whoever said black cats were bad luck clearly hadn’t met one! Our little voids are pure shadowy perfection and full of so much love to give you. Today is National Black Cat Day! Drop your black cat photos below 🐈‍⬛👇
Michele and Romy’s story shows you how Best Friends values each individual animal’s journey. Specific programs, time in loving homes, and patience can really bring out a dog’s true character. 🧡 #rescuedog #adoptdontshop

This unlikely pair is Archibald and Kaleidoscope. 🧡 Archibald is a handsome, orange senior, known affectionately as “Grandpa Archie,” who has a deep love for all of his younger feline friends. Kaleidoscope is a kitten with neurological issues (often joined by her friend Pongo), who finds a great sense of comfort with Archibald. Archibald earned his status as nurturing patriarch through his calm demeanor and easygoing personality. It’s easy to see why every kitty is eager to curl up next to him for a good old catnap. 💗🐈
We clean; they supervise! 🧹
Peanut is, well, a little nutty. As you can see, this happy boy absolutely loves water, and just about any type of ball. He is a pro at kongs and is always down for a stroller or golf cart ride. 🌊⛳️ He isn't quite ready to find his home yet and our team is working hard to help him learn some better manners. This is what no-kill means to us - giving each individual animal the support they need to find the right path forward. 🧡
4Adopt a pet like Olaf! Clay, Coconut, and Poly have hearts as big as their personalities. Clay shows bravery every day, proving that courage can come in the softest forms. Coconut has a warm, sensitive spirit that reminds us how meaningful the bond between people and pets can be. Poly has a gentle nature that makes everyone around them feel comfortable and cared for. Just like Olaf, every shelter pet has a story and a personality that makes them completely their own. Their kindness, resilience, and gentle hearts are what make them unforgettable—and exactly why every animal deserves a home where they can be loved for who they are. At Angels Rest, we've adopted the beautiful tradition of painting memorial stones as a way to remember and honor a beloved pet we’ve lost. Each stone here was painted by someone who loved a little soul all the way to the end. Tell us about the pet you carry in your heart in the comments. We'd love to know their name and a favorite memory. 🧡
Hedwick and Tallulah are having fun pellet diving - just look at they’re happy twitchy noses! 🥰 Our caregivers at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary are always up to some fun enrichment with the bunnies 🐰
Last month, Kit and Caboodle celebrated their 10th birthday! 🎉 Ten years of being loved, cared for, and making people smile. Their care team, volunteers, and friends came together to celebrate them with an amazing party at the Sanctuary. 🧡
Trisha Yearwood has pulled over for a lot of dogs. No collar? She's stopping. Broken elbow, no home, no chance? She's making a call. Her name was Dottie. She was on the side of an Oklahoma road. What started with one stray became Dottie's Yard, a fund that has now supported more than 190 animal welfare organizations across all 50 states. In Trisha's words: "It's an act of love, helping a living thing that can't help itself." That's her why. And on Monday, October 19, she's bringing it into the room with us at the Benefit to Save Them All, where we'll honor the everyday heroes turning one good dog's memory into a promise for thousands more. Because saving them all takes more than one person pulling over. It takes a whole room of us showing up for the ones who can't help themselves. Together, we can Save Them All. 🧡 #BestFriendsBenefit26
8Come see which area is really your vibe. Schedule your visit to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and explore them all! 🧡🐾
As National Pet Memorial Month comes to a close, we hope this serves as a gentle reminder that there's no timeline on grief, and you don't have to "get over it." For anyone carrying the loss of a beloved animal today, we see you and we honor the love you shared with your pet. 🧡
She came to us after being found tied to a park bench. Now, Empress has a family of her own. 🧡🐾 Our 2026 Benefit spokesdog was adopted right in the middle of her photoshoot, giving us the kind of ending we hope for every homeless pet. Watch Empress’s story, then come meet her at the Benefit to Save Them All on Monday, October 19. Because when you support Best Friends, you help create more moments like this: a pet going from homeless to home. Together, we can save them all. #BestFriendsBenefit26
7Looking for someone who will always love you? Meet some of our adoptable dogs at our Sanctuary who got all dressed up for a Dolly Parton inspired photoshoot, thanks to their amazing caregivers! Even if you are working 9 to 5, these pups of many colors would love to go home with you. 🩷
Ringworm can be a scary word. Unless it’s not. Our wonderful team at Mondrians House at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary cares for cats with ringworm by making sure they feel comforted and happy every step of the way. The process to get rid of ringworm is not as scary as you think, and once they are cleared, they are ready to be adopted! Adopt these amazing cats today! 😻🧡
Last Saturday, our community in Los Angeles showed up for our dogs on Adventure Buddies Day. Best Friends, partnering with Los Angeles Animal Services, invited everyone to take a dog out on an adventure for the day. 🐶🌴🌞 Participants were paired with the perfect dog for them, got a special picture and supplies, and then 395 dogs were off on their adventures! Pup cups were enjoyed, faces were licked, and parks were run through! ☺️ Shout out to our wonderful Adventure Buddy participants and LAAS shelters: Chesterfield Square, East Valley, Harbor, North Central, West Valley, and West LA! 🧡
During Pet Memorial Month, take a moment to breathe with us. Give yourself permission to feel, remember, and gently move through your grief. 🧡
For years, Memo and Karen, a Best Friends Volunteer, have had a standing date on the first Sunday of every month. Together they explore, stop to smell the flowers and soak up some one-on-one time together. Memo has been looking for a home since 2021, and while he’s always happy to see Karen, we're hoping 2026 will finally be his year. Maybe his next Sunday adventure could be with you? 🥹🧡 Click the link in our bio to learn more about Memo!
