Royal Ballet and OperaWhere the Ring begins 🌊 On this day in 1869, Das Rheingold received its world premiere in Munich, introducing audiences to Wagner’s monumental saga of gold, power, love and destruction. To mark the anniversary, we’re opening a remarkable record of the Ring’s return to Bayreuth in 1896–97. Preserved within are portraits of its cast and creatives, alongside photographs of the stage designs that once conjured Wagner’s mythic world. #TheRoyalOpera #DasRheingold #Wagner #RingCycle #RoyalBalletAndOpera
