Royal Ballet and OperaLove cannot be tamed 🖤 In the Habanera, Carmen declares that love answers to no one. Bizet gives her philosophy one of opera’s most recognisable melodies, its circling rhythm as elusive as Carmen herself. At once an invitation and a warning, the aria reveals Carmen on her own terms: she may choose love, but she will never surrender her freedom. ▶️ Our 2024 production of Carmen, starring Aigul Akhmetshina, is now available to watch on Royal Ballet and Opera Stream. 📅 Carmen returns to our Main Stage from 29 October. #TheRoyalOpera #Carmen #Bizet #Opera #RoyalBalletAndOpera
