BY RHONA XThis one is huge for me. Being named a finalist for the Changemaker Award at the IMAGE Mother Awards means more than I can properly put into words. One of my biggest goals this year was not simply to talk about inclusion, but to create real change through it. Through the VSP (Very Special Person) Programme, I am helping businesses create more welcoming and understanding experiences for people with additional needs and their families. Through my new inclusive colouring book, “Molly & Friends Everyone Belongs”, I want children with different abilities, communication styles and sensory needs to see themselves represented, included and proud of who they are. This work comes from my own life as a mum of three children with additional needs. I know how powerful it is when someone makes the effort to include your child, and how painful it can be when they do not. Winning the Changemaker Award would help me take this work further and reach more families, businesses and communities. Being recognised alongside these incredible finalists already means so much, but this is a change I am determined to keep making.
