MERIT BeautyOne question we’ve been getting a lot lately is: what type of fragrance is Retrospect — woody, musky, floral, gourmand? And the truth is, it’s a little bit of everything. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While most modern fragrances revolve around a single hero note, we wanted Retrospect to feel intriguing and layered, so we took a different approach. Working with master perfumer Fanny Bal, we combined vintage notes like orris, rosemary, and aldehydes (you might recognize them from the more powdery fragrances of the ‘80s) with more modern ones like pear and synthetic musk to create a scent that feels nostalgic without being dated.
