There are 30+ galleries and over 1,200 works of art in the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Here’s your first look inside. The Lucas Museum explores how artists depict the essential myths that help us make sense of the world and bring us together as a community. These exhibitions feature universal themes like love, family, and adventure, along with collections of manga, comics, and graphic stories that are the first of their kind. Additional galleries spotlight 20th-century artists whose works connect modern imagination with age-old beliefs. Together, our inaugural exhibitions explore timeless themes and modern visions, revealing how shared stories shape our human experience. Which gallery are you most excited to see? 🖼️ #LucasMuseum #art #museum #sneakpeek #comingsoon
5From a parking lot to a beautiful park. 🌱 April is Earth Month, so we're showing you some of our favorite spots in the Lucas Museum park and gardens, designed by Mia Lehrer and Studio MLA. With a blossoming meadow surrounded by drought-resistant plants, a hanging garden, and more than 200 newly-planted trees throughout the landscape, visitors will have their pick of green spaces to relax. Additionally, it's our mission to champion sustainability as a foundational principle in the Lucas Museum's construction. We have installed 24,000 square feet of solar panels alongside our rooftop gardens, and we utilize a geothermal cooling system powered by our fountain to provide renewable cooling to the building. ♻️ We're proud to offer this incredible green space to the South LA community and can't wait to see visitors enjoying our park and gardens. #LucasMuseum #EarthMonth #park #LosAngeles #sustainability
We asked the children of the Lucas Museum staff what they think their parents do for work. Results vary. #LucasMuseum #kids #funny #museum #work
Curious about what narrative art means? Queen Latifah has the answer. We were honored to have Queen Latifah moderate our 2025 San Diego Comic-Con panel, where she helped George Lucas and Lucas Museum board members Guillermo Del Toro and Doug Chiang offer the world a glimpse into the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. We're just months away from welcoming visitors on September 22, and we can't wait to show you more. #LucasMuseum #QueenLatifah #SanDiegoComicCon #museum
2026 marks the 30th anniversary since the release of Rafael Navarro's comic book Sonámbulo: Sleep of the Just, featuring a fusion of hardboiled noir elements and Mexican lucha libre wrestlers. In this thrilling addition to his story, Sonámbulo has been framed— but this time it's for the Lucas Museum. 😉 #LucasMuseum #RafaelNavarro #comicbook #sonambulo #art
The beauty of jazz hinges on improvisation, whereas every move our preparators make to install "Quintet" by Ernie Barnes must be painstakingly precise. With Barnes' painting on the wall, we're one step closer to being ready to welcome visitors on September 22. 🖼️ #LucasMuseum #ErnieBarnes #jazz #art #behindthescenes
3For millennia, we could only imagine what the far side of the moon looked like to the naked eye. But after NASA's Artemis II Mission sent humans into lunar orbit for the first time since 1972, we don't have to wonder anymore. 🌒💫 Congratulations to the crew of Artemis II for inspiring us all to look to the stars and dream. #LucasMuseum #RobertMcCall #ArtemisII #space #NASA
4We know you want to see inside the #LucasMuseum more than anything— so here's a sneak peek at the bones of this one-of-a-kind structure, designed by Ma Yansong and MAD Architects. #architecture #behindthescenes #museum #sneakpeek
This powerful mural shot by JR depicting the California-Mexico border wall is officially hanging in the Lucas Museum. You can see this incredible piece in person when we open our doors September 22, 2026. P.S. watch until the end for a cameo from our co-founder Mellody Hobson. 😉 JR, GIANTS, Kikito, September 6, 2017, 7.02 p.m., Tecate, Mexico - U.S.A., 2017. © JR #LucasMuseum #JR #mural #art #museum
The narrative art that ignites your passion stays with you forever. Last July at our San Diego Comic Con panel, Oscar-winning artist, renowned Star Wars production designer, and Lucas Museum Board Member Doug Chiang described how his childhood love of comics inspired his prolific career as an artist. We cannot wait to welcome visitors of all ages to find their own storytelling spark at the Lucas Museum. #LucasMuseum #DougChiang #ComicCon #comics #art
