- You haven't truly experienced Kyushu until you’ve gone on a Kumamon hunt in Kumamoto! 🐻❤️ This lovable black bear is a literal icon here, and tracking him down makes for the ultimate adventure. If you're planning your itinerary, we found 3 iconic photo spots you absolutely cannot miss—ranging from a hidden street food alley right by Kumamoto Castle to an epic park featuring a massive army of 84 Kumamons! 🚗 Our biggest tip: To easily hit all these spots, skip the train and rent a car. Keep an eye out for some special One Piece surprises scattered across the prefecture too! 🏴☠️) #Kyushu #Kumamoto #Kumamon #Japan #JapanRoadTrip

- This lunch spot was definitely a highlight of our Kyushu road trip! It's truly a hidden gem — you wouldn't be able to get here without a car. The owner was lovely, the restaurant was so charming (only 6 groups can be seated at a time), and it's literally in the Japanese countryside — no buildings in sight. The only reason we found it was that we were driving from Kumamoto to Lake Onami and wanted to eat chicken (a Kumamoto specialty!) along the way. 📍Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu #kyushu #japan #kumamoto #kyushuroadtrip
