HannahCan you freeze decorated sugar cookies without ruining all of your hard work? Of course you can, if you do it the right way! Whether you’re prepping ahead for a big event, or saving leftovers, here’s my foolproof method for freezing and thawing cookies so they stay fresh and taste amazing. HOW TO FREEZE -Let your decorated cookies completely dry, preferably overnight. -Individually heat seal each cookie. -Place the cookies in a large airtight container. It doesn’t matter how you arrange them, just make them fit however you can! If you don’t heat seal them, it’s best to stack them with parchment paper between each layer so they don’t stick together during the thawing process. -Put them in the freezer for up to 3 months. HOW TO THAW -The night before you need the cookies, pull them from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature overnight. They will be ready to handle the next day! IMPORTANT!! Don’t open the container during thawing. This is to ensure that the condensation forms on the outside of the container and not on the cookies. Heat sealing your cookies prior to freezing adds a double layer of protection against the condensation, so while it’s not technically necessary, I do highly recommend it.
