Chopin InstituteđŻď¸ On the 177th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopinâs death, weâre going back to a unique concert which took place under the composerâs heart during the Chopin and His Europe Festival⌠and which is now available on CD! JĂłzef Krogulski, five years younger than Chopin, died at the age of just 27; his final work was the Miserere in E minor â a mass for Easter Week. Forgotten almost immediately after the composerâs death, it was only rediscovered a decade ago in the Jagiellonian Library by MirosĹaw GÄ sieniec, to whom we owe its editing and revival for contemporary listeners. The world premiere of the work, based on the manuscripts edited by Prof. GÄ sieniec, took place in 2022 during the âChopin and his Europeâ Festival. In Warsawâs Basilica of the Holy Cross, where Chopinâs heart rests, the nearly two-hundred-year-old score was performed under the baton of VĂĄclav Luks, interpreted by soloists and his outstanding ensembles, Collegium 1704 and Collegium Vocale 1704. The sonic atmosphere created by the period instruments and historically informed performance conjured up, within this church so significant to Warsawâs history, a mystery of the sacred, which is at once a moving example of the sensitivity and musical imagination of Chopin-era Poland â that Poland which no longer exists, for which both those in exile and those living in the territories of the former, free homeland longed. đ§ You can listen to the album on all major streaming services⌠đ ⌠or buy it in our online store đ http://sklep.nifc.pl
