Chopin Institute🌙 Zbychorski – Koshio / Cooperations 🎶 Upcoming temporary exhibition in Żelazowa Wola We invite you to experience the results of an artistic process: the exceptional collaboration of Olgierd Zbychorski, a visual artist, with contemporary musicians, and with the master calligrapher Masafumi Koshio. The exhibition leads visitors through successive manifestations of their mutual interaction as creators representing different artistic disciplines, offering one another inspiration and space to act within their respective chosen media. The temporary exhibition space in Żelazowa Wola lends itself to a play of contrasts. The monochromatic graphic works entitled “Nocturnes” anticipate the diverse, fleeting impressions of instant photography and of Japanese calligraphic signs, which, in their capture of a fleeting moment, evoke associations with the musical genre of the impromptu. Zbychorski’s Nocturnes comprise a group of silkscreen compositions inspired by Chopin’s music encountered in everyday life. The key to the process lay in an extensive transformation of the musical notation of Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9 No. 2, and the visual results of the works selected from Zbychorski’s twelve compositions became a score for the musicians invited to collaborate. Improvisations to successive graphic works were created by Paweł Gajec, Jerzy Mazzoll, Paweł Dobrowolski, Tomasz Januchta, RakRaczej, Narducci, Project Kodama, Maja Miro and Tomasz Gadecki, Thysenterprise, Michał Zygmunt, and Michał Jan Ciesielski.
