kylie | pilates instructorDiscipline ≠ Punishment As Pilates instructors, our job is to make sure the people in front of us are moving safely and effectively — not to make them feel punished for listening to their body. We don’t know what someone walked into class carrying that day. Maybe they barely slept. Maybe they’re sore. Maybe they tweaked something yesterday. Maybe something started hurting during class. Maybe that hour is the one place they came to reset. And now they’re being made to feel like the entire room is being punished because they needed a break? Challenge is part of training. Shame doesn’t need to be. Instead, try cues like: “Stay with me as long as your form stays strong.” “Take the modification before you lose the movement.” “If you need to reset, reset — then come right back in.” “Give me your strongest version, not your messiest version.” “Form first. Intensity second.” A good instructor knows how to push the room without taking away someone’s ability to listen to their own body. bod. | Modern Pilates Education #pilates #modernpilates
