Ami VitaleI’ve just returned from one of the most meaningful journeys of my life to the Yukon and Northwest Territories, thanks to @National Geographic and @Canadaexplore. Led by Deb Wild and her son Emerson of Caribou Wild Mountain Tours, I ventured into the backcountry on horseback, camping under the breathtaking northern skies. The sun barely set, dipping just after 1 a.m. and rising again just a few hours later. As I drifted off to sleep, I was serenaded by the soft breaths of the horses and the distant calls of foxes. What struck me most was the deep connection Deb and Emerson share with the land and their horses. Deb expressed a beautiful sentiment: “Everyone should take time in the wilderness to reconnect with their true selves. Open your arms to the sky and embrace it all. It’s worth it.” Her words resonate deeply; in our fast-paced lives, we often forget to simply be. Slowing down can feel impossible, yet it’s precisely what helps us regain our balance.
