AaronShawMusicI was at my boiling Point right here. I had a bad day, and I came to my studio looking forward to washing it all away with some saxcrobatics. I decided to put this phrase in the most challenging part of the horn. The altissimo range is no joke for any saxophonist. It takes a unique set of discipline and complete kinesthasia of the Pharynx and the rest of the throat to be able to pull off the partial-ing between the false fingerings at a fast pace, and yes the keys I hit in that range are all made up and none of them actually produce the note I’m playing. More on that later 😂 . The day before I had it and was feeling good . , but today , different story. One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned on this journey is the power of simply showing up for myself. In those moments of frustration and self-doubt, I made a choice to keep picking up my sax and trying again.
