Timebeam BeautyThis might be Dr. Lโs most controversial beauty rule ๐ For years, her approach to sun exposure was simple: avoid it. But as the research continues to evolve, she takes a more nuanced approach to getting sunlight, while still being very clear that burning & tanning are never the goal. Her approach: โ Choose a time of day with a lower UV Index, like first thing in the AM โ Get just 3โ10 minutes of exposure, depending on your skin tone, 3โ5x per week. The rule of thumb: never let your skin turn red. โ For all other sun exposure, stay sun safe: hats, sunglasses, UV-protective clothing + broad-spectrum SPF. Still a hard no: ๐ซ Burning ๐ซ Getting red ๐ซ Sun exposure during peak/high UV Index ๐ซ Tanning (sorry, thereโs no such thing as a โbase tanโ) Sunlight can be part of a healthy routine. Sun damage doesnโt have to be. Any questions about sun exposure? Ask us!
