Talitha JaneANYTHING you put before the Lord is an idol. I’ve leaned very quickly that the Lord will take things away from you to remind you WHO gave it to you in the first place It’s not bad to have nice things, it’s not bad to want relationships, jobs, money or anything material, however it becomes an issue when you desire those things more than a relationship with God. We put more effort into making money than making time for the Lord. We open up social media more than we open up our Bible. ANYTHING can be an idol. Ask yourself what’s something I put before the Lord, and be honest with yourself. I caught myself beginning to idolize social media and yet again… my physique. Personally, I found that idolizing something came from wanting external validation. I cared about things that made me look accomplished. They gave me earthly value. So I pray, “Lord even if I don’t have this thing, you are already more than enough. My worth is not defined in material objects, relationships, social status or physical attributes. I chose to put you above it all. Allow me to denounce these idols immediately, In Jesus name, Amen.”
