Ripley’sThink you know Voodoo? The real story may surprise you! Often misunderstood in popular culture, Voodoo traces its roots to West and Central Africa and was brought to Haiti and other parts of the Americas beginning in the 15th century. Despite how it’s often portrayed in movies, traditional Voodoo is centered on community, spirituality, and honoring ancestors. Many Voodoo priests and practitioners reject the harmful stereotypes associated with the religion, emphasizing instead its focus on celebrating life.
