Paramount PicturesAlongside the legions of Transformers fans across the world and across generations, we mourn the loss of the great Peter Cullen. Peter often spoke of the profound inspiration he drew from his beloved older brother Larry, a decorated U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran, in finding the voice and spirit of Optimus Prime. Larry taught him that a true hero didn’t need to shout or act tough and that real strength could be gentle, compassionate and dignified. Peter carried those qualities into Optimus for more than four decades, creating a character who embodied courage, honor and humanity for generations of fans. And in doing so, Peter became a hero in his own right to the millions of people around the world who loved Optimus Prime and will forever hear Peter’s unmistakable voice when they think of what it means to be one.
