National GeographicUntil 2025, only two adult Tyrannosaurus rex footprints had been found in the entire world—but high school teacher Kent Hups made history when he discovered the first adult T. rex trackway. Working with his close friend and National Geographic Explorer Tyler Lyson, the pair excavated a total of five footprints in North Dakota, each preserved as a 3D shape in the ancient rocks.
