MyBabyBuddhaIf you're new to pumping, here's something we want you to know: A gentle, rhythmic pulling sensation. Some moms also feel tingling during a letdown or brief tenderness when starting a session. Pinching, burning, sharp pain, or nipples that become cracked, bruised, or bleed. Pain that continues during or after pumping needs attention. Lower your suction. Higher suction doesn't automatically mean more milk. Check your flange size. Your nipple should move freely without rubbing against the sides or pulling too much of your areola into the tunnel. Make sure your nipple is centered before pumping. Try a different flange size or insert if you're experiencing rubbing, swelling, or discomfort. If the pain continues after making adjustments, or you notice nipple damage, reach out to an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). They can help check your flange fit, pumping technique, and settings. If you develop a painful red or hot area on your breast, fever, or flu-like symptoms, contact your healthcare provider promptly. Remember, the goal isn't to tolerate the strongest suction. It's to find a comfortable setting that removes milk effectively. Save this for your next pumping session! #babybuddha #pumpingtips #breastpumping #flangesizing #breastfeedingtips
