MyBabyBuddhaYour morning pump isn't "better" because you're doing something differently. ๐ It's completely normal to pump the most milk in the morning. Here's why: While you sleep, your body makes more of the hormone that tells your breasts to make milk. At the same time, you're usually going several hours without nursing or pumping, so your breasts have more time to fill up. That combination often leads to your biggest pump of the day. As the day goes on, it's common to pump smaller amounts. Your baby is eating more often, you're pumping more often, and your breasts don't have as much time to refill between sessions. That doesn't mean your milk supply is dropping. It doesn't mean your pump isn't working. And it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. For many breastfeeding moms, this is just how milk production naturally works. So if your afternoon pump is smaller than your morning one, don't compare it to your first pump of the day. Your body isn't failing you. It's following its normal rhythm. Save this for the next time you start wondering if your supply has dropped.
