Hayley PaigeI named TENDER IS THE NIGHT after John Keats’ Ode to a Nightingale, where the night becomes this romantic world of moonlight, stars, and the Queen-Moon surrounded by her starry company. It felt almost written for this gown. I wanted the silhouette to feel incredibly clean and intentional: a sharp sweetheart neckline, long dropped waist, and an enormous sweep of mikado. Then came the rhinestones, scattered almost haphazardly across the gown like starlight breaking apart through the night sky. I’ve always loved sparkle that feels a little unexpected. Rather than perfectly placed, these feel discovered, like catching a constellation at exactly the right moment. We hand-painted constellations on the dance floor, so naturally the dress needed some too.
