Millennial In DebtJoin the Future Millionaire newsletter (going out this Friday) where I’ll be explaining index funds that give you a ton of diversification and pay out dividends (🔗 in b/0) Every time I reach a new dividend milestone I celebrate because: 1) I’m not the type of investor who focuses on investments strictly because of their dividend payout. So it really is a great bonus ! 2)When I’d earn a few cents here and there in dividends I used to say: “I’ll just be happy when I can pay my phone bill” I’m earning about $3000 a year in dividends (most pay out quarterly). My biggest dividends come from VTI (I own the most shares of this fund) and VNQ (a REIT) Here’s the best part: Though my dividends are a passive income stream — I do not withdraw or spend them. Instead I’ve selected DRIP for my portfolio. This means my dividends are automatically re-invested into the company and I get more shares basically for free. This is a financial decision my future self will be thankful for. So YES I can cover my trips to Target or pay my phone bill and that excites me. But retiring 15 - 20 years earlier (goal is between 45 - 50 years old) excites me even more!
