If you recall last week I shared how I managed to book a 4 day trip for my partner and I to Aruba for just $187… UPDATE: The trip has now cost me $0 dollars!!! Here’s a breakdown & the ☕️ Lodging: I booked my lodging on Expedia & here’s why 🏨 I LOVE rewards + points. Expedia just added One Key Cash to their rewards program. You earn it by booking flights, hotels, airport transportation, activities + more. I’ve been using Expedia for OVER 10+ years & covered lodging costs w/ One Key Cash. [Tip when you travel — try to use the same loyalty programs in various destinations. IE: use the same booking service, or take the same airline…etc] Flights: I did an airline partner transfer w/ my Amex points. Flights were in the 60,000- 90,000 range and after the transfer both tickets came up to 80,000 points total. Taxes: We initially paid $187 in taxes (points don’t cover taxes) but to my surprise my Platinum Amex credited the charge as an airline credit. This is what I mean when I say a cards benefits should outweigh the annual fee in order to make the most sense.
