Mike4TheWinnOfficialThis is one of the reasons I keep talking about this case. I’m a survivor of rape myself, and I know firsthand that coming forward isn’t always immediate, simple or easy. There can be fear, shame, confusion and denial, and sometimes it takes time before you’re even ready to say out loud what happened to you. Jane Doe reportedly spoke with campus police more than three weeks after the alleged assault and told them she could say “with 100% confidence” that she had been raped. Now, two years later, the DA says he never saw that interview transcript before the original decision not to bring charges. I don’t know everything that happened that night, and that’s for the investigation and courts to determine, but I do know this: taking time to come forward does not automatically make a survivor’s story unworthy of being heard. I’ll keep following this case as more information comes out. #Cornell #CornellUniversity #JaneDoe #SurvivorVoices #SexualAssaultAwareness
