Main Street Flower TruckMy dad was an FDNY first responder on 9/11 ❤️ Living in California as a New Yorker, September 11th hits hard every year — being away from family and away from the NY community on this shared day of grief, unity, and togetherness. Seven years ago, as I was walking home on 9/11, the flower shop on my East Village block had buckets out front with a sign that I regularly think about to this day (pictured in the video). I loved how it gave people permission to admit it was a hard day — whether for themselves or for somebody else — and offered a little piece of beauty to try to help. This year, I wanted to emulate that same gesture that moved me seven years ago, here on the other side of the country. All day today, I had such touching moments speaking with people about their memories from September 11th, their experiences from New York, hearing recounts of where they were, and the shared sense of disbelief about what happened 25 years ago today. A quarter of a century later, this day still has such an impact; America has not forgotten. Dad, you’re still my hero. This one’s for you ❤️ #september11 #fdny343 #flowertruck #fdny #vlog @9/11 Day
