Klook PhilippinesEver wonder why your 3-day vacation never feels like enough? 🥹 Here’s what studies have found about how our minds recover on vacation (plus the best trip duration for peak happiness!): 🗓️ Days 1–3: You’re still winding down The first few days are often spent mentally disconnecting from work, adjusting to a new environment, and catching up on rest. Plus, you spend these days traveling, packing, and adjusting. (Recovery hasn’t even started yet!) 🗓️ Days 4–7: The biggest benefits kick in Researchers found the largest improvements in well-being happened during this period. This is when many people start feeling noticeably happier, more energized, and fully in vacation mode. 🗓️ Around Day 8: Peak vacation well-being A landmark study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies found that overall well-being peaked around the eighth day of vacation. 📈 🤔 So... should you skip weekend trips? Not at all! A quick getaway is still great for making memories and taking a break. But if you’re hoping for a true mental reset from work, research suggests planning a longer vacation, around 7–10 days, gives your mind more time to fully recover. 📚 Sources: de Bloom et al.
