The Guira cuckoo from South America is an extremely social bird that can often be seen in flocks of six to eight birds - a number that can grow to 20 after breeding season ends! This species breeds communally, meaning that several females will lay their eggs in the same nest. With so many parents trying to attend to their eggs, competition can be fierce and often only a quarter of the eggs will hatch successfully.
