Found in Indonesia, the Sumba hornbill plays a special role in local folklore and ceremonies. At one time these birds were collected for their meat because it was believed they held the cure for rheumatism and asthma. Long tail feathers and impressive casques were also desired by collectors. Though finding the bird in the pet trade seems to be declining, but a long history of such activities, combined wtih habitat loss, has left the hornbill vulnerable to extinction. #hornbill #Sumba #bird #animal #wildlife #video #reel #footage #colorful #beautiful #PhotoArk
