Joel SartoreThe mouth of the southern brook lamprey, which is a sucking disk filled with bicuspid teeth, may look like the stuff of nightmares, but this species is quite harmless. A non-parasitic creature, the larval forms of this species feed on algae and bacteria while adult southern brook lampreys do not feed at all - they rely on stored energy sources and only survive for a short time. #lamprey #southern #mouth #nightmare #harmless #aquatic #aquaticspecies #underwater #animal #wildlife #video #PhotoArk
