itsjillianandersonnMy fiancé got laid off this past week, not even two weeks after I got fired from my 9-5. For most people this would be devastating. And honestly, if this had happened to us two years ago, we both would have been panicking. But because I've spent the last year building my freelance business, I felt completely confident that we would be more than fine. The money was still coming in. This is exactly why I talk about freelancing so much. Working for yourself isn't the risky option, it's actually the safer one. When you have multiple clients, you are diversifying your income the same way people diversify their investments. If one client leaves, you haven't lost everything, you've lost a percentage. And you go replace it. But when you lose a 9-5, you've lost 100% of your income overnight and now you're competing in a job market where people are taking months to find something new. Even if content creation isn't for you, I promise you have a skill that someone will pay for. And building even a small client base now could be the thing that saves you later.
