Beethoven se sintió atraído por la historia de Goethe acerca de un noble holandés que se opone a la tiranía, y esa lucha por la libertad sigue resonando con fuerza hoy mismo. Este proyecto surgió de mi deseo de traer Egmont plenamente al presente, y a lo largo del último año ha sido una gran alegría trabajar de cerca con Cate Blanchett y Jeremy O. Harris para darle forma a esta próxima adaptación con la @losangelesphilharmonic. – Beethoven’s music for Goethe’s Egmont has fascinated me for many years and one I have long wanted to explore in a new way. Beethoven was drawn to Goethe’s story of a Dutch nobleman who stands against tyranny, and that struggle for freedom still resonates powerfully today. This project grew from my desire to bring Egmont fully into the present, and over the past year it has been a great joy to work closely with Cate Blanchett and Jeremy O.
