elvie🧝🏾♀️modelling here is very different from Europe so yes spending several weeks without any casting is fuxking ridiculous, demoralising and draining and no one will ever explain why I can have 4 castings in a month while a non-black model can have 7 in a week, it’s absolutely not jealousy like good for them because ofc the whiter you are, the better you do here!! but it’s so humbling when you know you’re a good model, all your castings go well and you have the social media presence they pretend to care about so much here and yet the only thing that seems to be holding you back is your skin colour (and they will probably never admit it) I don’t really think this country is really ready for giving work to black models in fashion 🥰 I mostly work in beauty but I really expected to do more in fashion thank you to the 2 fashion brands that trusted me here <3 I have 2 weeks left, but I’m not really holding out hope for any other brands to book me 💌 (I have one confirmed beauty job tho) will I come back? probably (absolutely fuxking) not 🙈 I mean, I’d love to get another contract in Asia because it’s still a valuable experience, but you just have to be ready to face the reality of being a Black model here and I just wish I’d been warned from the beginning.. at least I wouldn’t have had such high expectations
