Dritan AlselaI was an illegal immigrant. Twice in Greece, then in Italy, and later in Germany. I know exactly what it means because I lived it. Without taking that path, I would not be the person I am today. That’s why I have no understanding for people who dehumanize or celebrate harsh treatment of illegal immigrants. I could have been one of the people you’re talking about. Behind every illegal immigrant, there is a human being with a story, a family, fears, and hope. Some will fail, some will succeed, but every one of them deserves to be treated with dignity. This is personal for me, and I will never stop speaking out against policies or attitudes that strip people of their humanity.
