This wavelength is long enough to travel deep into the skin to target the pigment/melanin in the the hair follicle, and not target the surrounding melanin. If the appropriate wave length is not used, surrounding innocent melanocytes can be targeted which can lead to burns. The bottom line is that you want a laser that is able to differentiate the pigment in the hair follicle versus the pigment in the normal surrounding skin.β£ β£ 2οΈβ£ Spacerβ£ The silver tip is used as a spacer, so that I am the correct distance away from the skin and not holding the laser beam too close to the skin. This is not the same for all lasers with LHR (because there are some that will need to be in direct contact with the skin). This is where the education of the operator using the laser is important.β£ β£ 3οΈβ£ Chilled Airβ£ Because this is powerful heat that the skin is receiving, cooling the skin throughout the entire process helps to insure that the temperature does not get too high, which could also lead to burns or potential scarring. Plus the chilled air helps with some of the discomfort some may experience. Iβm not even flinching πβ£ β£ These are just a few of the principles that are essential when it comes to LHR. As always, I recommend you consult with your #BoardcertifiedDermatologist to know if this is the right treatment for you.β£ β£ Let me know if you found this information helpfulππ½ππ½ππ½β£ β£ #laserhairremoval #blackskin #blacktiktok #smootharmpits #hairremovallaser #hairremoval #blackdermatologist #bikiniseason
