Decca ClassicsWe are very saddened to learn of the passing of one of the great pianists, Stephen Kovacevich. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. Following his triumphant debut recital at London's Wigmore Hall, 1961, he embarked on a brilliant international career and made many acclaimed recordings for Philips Classics, including his legendary Beethoven Piano Concertos and Diabelli Variations. Other highlights of his distinguished career include Bartók's Piano concertos under Sir Colin Davis, No.2 winning an Edison Award and his collaborations with Martha Argerich, most notably their 1978 Gramophone Award-winning album of music for two pianos by Bartók, Debussy & Mozart.
