DAW BooksJim C. Hines is back with another fresh and fun fantasy that'll have you cancelling all your plans. Check out the cover of UNCHOSEN ONES, a mesh of contemporary and epic, enemies-to-lovers, fantasy romance. Art direction & design: Colleen Reinhart Illustration: Ella Poworoznik Preorder now!! ... After a lifetime of magic, monsters, and queenship, Ebony Morales takes her dying breath...only to end up back on earth. In college. Alongside Sebastian Cross, who is distractingly handsome and totally wants her dead. The worldbuilding of Narnia meets the humor of 17 Again in this post-portal enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance Ebony Morales was chosen by the god Laumphet, taken from Michigan State University to the world of Arinor. There, she fought monsters and freed the people and fell in love and ruled as queen for many years. Then, at the end of her life as Arinor’s Ebon Queen, Laumphet returned her to Earth…right back into her 18-year-old body, at the very moment she’d left. Ebony had been prepared for death, but instead, lost and alone, she finds herself grieving the family she left behind. But Ebony isn’t as alone as she believes. Sebastian Cross, champion of the dark god Malugor, has also been returned. Sebastian has only two goals: one, find a way back to Arinor, and two, kill Ebony Morales. When greater threats follow them from Arinor, Sebastian and Ebony must work together against everything from undead wasps to semi-intelligent carnivorous plants to Sebastian’s vindictive ex-husband, a stoneskin giant named Kabarus. The survival of both worlds—Arinor and Earth—hangs in the balance. Sebastian is clever, dangerous, and the last person Ebony should fall for. But neither she nor Sebastian have ever done things the easy way… Heartfelt, hilarious, and unexpectedly poignant, this reverse-isekai fantasy asks us to consider the magic of ordinary life.
