Cynthia ErivoMy cover of “Every Time You Go Away,” from the upcoming documentary “John Candy: I Like Me,” is out everywhere now. ❤️ You may be wondering how my cover found its way to the film, so a little story time for you. It all started when @Ryan Reynolds came to me one day and said he wanted to incorporate a cover of the song for a documentary he was producing. I sang a little bit to him via voicenote because I wasn’t sure which song he was talking about. Turns out I guessed right and he asked if I can please do a version of it for a John Candy documentary he was working on. A fan of both his and the song, of course I said yes. My collaborator Will Wells and I then came up with the version you’re hearing now, and Ryan was so pleased, he’s played it to basically everyone who will listen. Ryan, thank you for your trust and for thinking of me. I’m honored to play a small role in helping you and Colin tell the story of a beloved, talented man, gone too soon.
